Betty Lightner, singer/dancer/tapper has started a Soft Shoe dance class for those people who may be intimidated by "tapping toes" and pressure of recitals, but would like to move their feet and enjoy the feeling of dancing to the beat and having fun. We welcome any and all ability levels just to have fun with dancing and feel this class is a great prerequisite to tapping if you ever want to move up to that class. Just think "Bing Crosby" and the old soft shoe!
Betty has been a resident of Whidbey for the last 25 years, owns and manages Lighthouse Property Care with Hubby Jim. She began ballet and tap at age 6, continued dance in high school, and beyond with off and on tap lessons over the years. She was a singer/dancer/choreographer
She has had the pleasure of dancing in Char Brown's class for the last 7 years and wants to pass on the fun of dance to others. As a member of the singing duo of Harbor Lights with husband Jim of the Shifty Sailors, you may have seen her at many fundraisers, private parties, special events, Maxwelton 4th of July parade doing 1920's songs and dance, Ott & Murphy, Blooms, with Jazz great, June Shellene, and Caio and Front Street Grill in Coupeville with Dr. Bob Wagner of DB Jazz as well as Island Dance recitals and various fundraisers performing with intermediate/advanced tappers. Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance, is her motto and she really wants to share the fun of dancing with all who will join in. She is so extremely grateful for all she has learned at Island Dance from world's greatest teacher, Charlene Brown, and wants to share some of that fun with anyone interested in dancing their troubles away!
