Brittany Falso, 25, is a Whidbey Island grown dancer and artist. She took her first class with Charlene Brown when she was 3 years old and continued as a student at Island Dance through her senior year in high school. She joined WIDT as a young girl and has developed a deep love and connection with this organization. She was a member of the company for 7 years and again as an adult for the 2011/2012 season. Her time with WIDT included multiple Regional Dance America festivals, National festivals, and Craft of Choreography Intensives, where class and performance opportunities provided a heightened growth into her dance training.
As a young dancer, Brittany joined the “Can--‐Do--‐Kids” performing group and had the opportunity to travel all over the state to perform various “dance--‐and--‐sing” numbers. In 2007 Brittany decided to experience a different aspect of dance by joining the Island Dance Competition Team (currently known as Island Dance Performance Team). She received high awards for her performances in various styles such as jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. This experience allowed her to gain a greater understanding of the different types of professional dancers.
Of course, Brittany’s true passion has always been with WIDT. With this company she has danced numerous roles in their annual production of The Nutcracker including the Snow Queen at the age of 15 and the coveted Faerie Queen the following year. She has been a guest artist with WIDT the past several years and has an intimate understanding of the production and the various scenes in this essential WIDT production.
Brittany’s dancing expertise was enhanced by the education she received while attending Cornish College of the Arts from 2008--‐2011. While at Cornish she performed with Cornish Dance Theatre, The Cornish Dance Collective, and held an apprenticeship with DASSdance, under director Daniel Wilkins. Brittany was honored to be selected to perform "String Theory" at The Paramount Theatre with Sonia Dawkins’ company 'Prism.' That same summer she also attended the Laban School of Dance in London as a student for a summer intensive. Beyond working with numerous local choreographers and teachers, Brittany has also worked with prestigious national and international artists including: Pat Hon, Wade Madsen, Timothy Lynch, Kaitlin Webster, Eva Stone and Aaron Cash.
Currently Brittany is going into her 4th season as a company member with DASSdance, teaches various levels of ballet and modern at Island Dance, and resides as a Board Member with WIDT. She continues to expand her knowledge about dance, the arts, and the human body--‐--‐with a special interest in human anatomy and kinestheology.
She understands and has great knowledge about the journey of being a dancer and what it takes to maintain a healthy and balanced life in conjunction with a demanding life as a dancer. Brittany is loving and passionate and is on a continual journey of experiencing and discovering the potential of our bodies and emotions through the gift of movement. She currently resides as a board member with WIDT and as one of the assistant artistic directors
