RE: Dance Recital and Gymnastics Presentation

Dear Parents:

Our year end is fast approaching. We wanted to provide you with some information so please take

some time to read over this letter. Be sure to check with the office if any of your questions go

Last Day of Classes : Fri, June 16 th

Dance Dress Rehearsals will be at SWHS (with costumes, no make up) will be posted online

at .

Possible rehearsal days are Friday and Sunday (June 9 th and 11 th )

Upper level dance rehearsals will be during the week of June 12 th -15 th

Other times may be set up as necessary

Recital @ SWHS Auditorium Sat. June 17 th @ 2:00 p.m.

All gymnastics classes will be performing in the recital EXCEPT the Saturday 11:30 class.

Michael Stadler will tentatively be taking photographs during rehearsal time on Friday, June 9 th

and Sunday, June 11 th . Please be sure to have your dancer or gymnast come to rehearsal with

appropriate hair and dress. Photograph purchases are not mandatory, but please be sure your

dancer attends and is photographed as each performing class will have a class picture as well as

individual poses. Please be sure to bring payment to your student’s photo session. (Photo order

forms will be available in the office soon. Your check should be made out to Stadler Studio .)

Classes not in the recital will not have photos.

Please watch for our specific rehearsal and photo schedule. This will be posted by the front office

and on our website. Please look it over and check for any conflicts that may exist. Please write

your corrections on the schedule.

Now is a very important time for all of our students to attend class. They will be learning and

practicing their performance pieces. Since so many pieces involve partnering, it is imperative that

your dancer be there to support the class.

Due to recital preparations, dancers may not use make up cards except in selected classes.

Please check with the office. (Remember, make up cards expire within one month of absence.)

Dance Costume fees will be posted to your account as we receive the information from teachers

and suppliers. We would appreciate payment for these as soon as possible as we have already

paid the vendors. Gymnasts will wear their regulation leotard and shorts.

All tuition, costume fees and tickets should be paid by June 5 th to avoid late fees. Please

remember that tuition is due for the month of June.

Tickets will be on sale at Island Dance beginning May 22th and continuing through June 15 th as

well as at the door. We are having a single show this year, so purchase your tickets early as we

could actually sell out! Many families purchase large numbers of tickets to include extended family

members and friends. We want to be sure everyone gets a ticket!

● $12.00 Adults, advance sale

● $10.00 Children, advance sale

● $15.00 at the door (adults and children)

We suggest you purchase your tickets in advance. Dancers planning to sit in the audience during

the show will also need to purchase a ticket, but they must leave their seat and go to the dressing

room four numbers before their dance piece. Dancers may watch the show via video feed in the

dressing room. Don’t forget to invite relatives, friends and teachers!

Occasionally a parent asks why they must pay for recital tickets. We’ll just outline some of the

many costs in putting on a large- scale recital:

Rental of the SWHS Auditorium and Little Theatre

Custodial costs at SWHS

Transportation and installation of the dance floor: cleaning, removal and reinstallation

Tech people for lights, sound, backstage, load- in and load- out

Recording studio for music editing

Music licensing

Printing costs for the recital program, tickets, etc.

Etc., etc., etc.

Lori will post a volunteer sign up sheet for the recital. We would welcome any volunteers.

Puget Sound Video will be taking our recital video. Please plan to purchase your DVD at the

recital. Checks should be made out to Puget Sound Video. (In past years, the cost was $35.00)

The Island Dance Performing Team will be selling concessions as a fundraiser. If you would like to

donate, please contact Jamee or Lori at [email protected] . This year, the Competition

Team will also be selling single flowers for you to present to your dancer.

Each year, the dancers work so hard. We thank you, the parents, grandparents, guardians and

friends, for providing your support and time to make this possible.

Thank you,

Char Brown and Sharla Matthews

P.S. We will send an email when our summer schedule is available online.
